TREMONTON, Utah — Authorities have identified 33-year-old Ryan Michael Bate as the suspect in the fatal shooting of two Tremonton Garland police officers during a domestic disturbance call Sunday night.

Police say officers were responding to multiple 911 hang-up calls near 700 North and 200 East when Bate opened fire, killing two officers, including Officer Lee Sorensen.

A Box Elder County sheriff’s deputy and a police K-9 were also shot but remain in fair condition. Bystanders convinced Bate to surrender, and he was booked into the Weber County Jail on aggravated murder and assault charges.
