India Floods: Uttarakhand Hit by Deadly Rains and Landslides

In early August, unrelenting torrential rains struck the mountainous state of Uttarakhand in India, triggering a series of floods and landslides.

In the village of Bankura, Pauri Garhwal district, the situation remains critical. Two fatalities have been reported, and five workers were swept away by a powerful surge of water — they are still listed as missing.

In the village of Kotla, the entire drinking water supply system has collapsed. The situation has been worsened by widespread power outages and disruptions to mobile communication. Rescue services are operating under constant downpours and ongoing landslides, which threaten areas already affected.

The Western Nayar River overflowed its banks and destroyed a vital bridge that connected villages with the district center in Pauri Garhwal. The collapse of the Kalgarhi Bridge on National Highway One Hundred Twenty-One cut off numerous remote villages deep in the interior from the outside world.

A day earlier, on August 5th, in Uttarkashi district, an extreme downpour caused a sudden rise in the Kheer Ganga River. A wall of water, mud, and rocks came crashing down the mountain slopes, sweeping away everything in its path.

In the tourist village of Dharali, popular among Hindu pilgrims, the torrent destroyed dozens of residential houses, wiped out shops, hotels, and roads. The mud and debris carried by the massive surge blocked part of the Bhagirathi River, creating an artificial lake that flooded large areas, including a government helicopter pad.

According to official data, six people have died, and more than sixty are missing. Unofficial sources suggest that the actual number of missing could exceed one hundred.

Over the past ten years, natural disasters in Uttarakhand have claimed nearly three thousand five hundred lives. Studies show that since 2010, the region has seen a marked increase in the frequency and intensity of heavy rains, flash floods, and surface runoff — making the state a hotspot for extreme hydrometeorological events.

Now, more and more scientific institutions and government agencies are asking what is causing such rapidly escalating disasters, both in individual countries and across the planet as a whole. It is worth noting that more than ten years ago, the international scientific group AllatRa identified the cause of what were then still barely noticeable climate changes worldwide, as well as forecasting the development of natural disasters. Unfortunately, at the time, the global community did not heed the voice of reason, but now it has become impossible to ignore what is happening.

In a new address, Dr. Egon Cholakian, one of AllatRa’s scientists, explained the true mechanism behind the powerful magnitude eight point eight earthquake on the Kamchatka Peninsula, as well as a forecast of seismic and volcanic activity in the very near future. Watch this video to understand what is happening to our planet and to avoid being a passive observer. While there is still time, action must be taken.
