George Lucas Thinks Star Wars is For 12 Year Old Boys and He's RIGHT!

Star Wars is a mess thanks to Disney and Lucasfilm. Several people have been announced to make a project under the once prodigious banner, but nothing has really manifest. James Mangold will be preoccupied at Paramount for the foreseeable future, further delaying the Dawn of the Jedi movie. Simon Kinberg and his Trilogy is still in very early development it will be years before anything comes of it and that's not to mention the dozens of other projects announced over the years.

A lot of the trepidation surrounding Star Wars comes from the flop that was Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018. The production mess is legendary and Ron Howard did the best he could with what he had and now he is revealing how messy the process was. But it was an off handed remark from George Lucas that illuminates why Disney is failing with the brand so spectacularly: Lucas knows the target audience and isn't trying to appeal to anyone more than the 12 year old boys he is envisioned it for. If it works for 35 year old women, great, but the audience needs to be serviced first a foremost. George gets it, Disney does not.
