A Taylor series is an infinite sum of terms that represents a function. It's built from the function's derivatives at a single point and approximates the function as an infinite-degree polynomial. The more terms you include in the series, the more accurate the approximation becomes, especially near the point of expansion. A special case of the Taylor series, centered at x=0, is called a Maclaurin series.
