The Wonderland Trail is a tough 93-mile loop around Mount Rainier, taking us through old-growth forests, open meadows, and past glaciers, with campsites like Summerland and Indian Bar giving basic spots to crash. It’s a long hike with steep climbs and river crossings, but the views of Rainier’s peaks and valleys, plus the variety of landscapes, make it worth the effort.
The trail starts and ends at Longmire, though you can pick different start points as long as you finish the loop, passing spots like Reflection Lakes and the Carbon Glacier, and most people take 10-14 days to do it. You might spot bears or marmots, and other wildlife, which adds to the fun. It’s a solid challenge that leaves you feeling like champions when you finish.
