Dr. Of Thuganomics was HIM

The “Doctor of Thuganomics” 🎤 was one of John Cena’s most famous gimmicks in WWE during the early 2000s.

Around 2002–2005, Cena would come to the ring wearing oversized jerseys, chains, and a cap.

He performed freestyle rap promos, where he insulted his opponents with rhymes.

His catchphrases included “Word Life!” and the now-iconic “You Can’t See Me!”.

This gimmick quickly made him popular with fans and pushed him into the main event scene.

After 2005, Cena transitioned into his “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” persona as the face of WWE.
But in WrestleMania 35 (2019), he made a surprise return as the Doctor of Thuganomics, giving fans a hit of nostalgia.
