Oklahoma City, OK - A driver was arrested after an early morning pursuit on Monday with multiple Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuvers.
Around 1 a.m. on Monday, an Oklahoma City Police Officer was going south on N Highland Drive near Northeast 16th Street when he saw a car turning into the intersection and failing to signal.
The officer tried to catch up with the vehicle and saw it make another turn without a signal.
The car started to speed up, and the officer turned on his emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 62-year-old Donald Ray, ran a stop sign at 16th Street and Miramar. The pursuit later reached speeds of about 65 mph on Miramar near Northeast 23rd.
The officer conducted a TVI maneuver, causing the suspect’s car to spin out and jump the curb of a front yard and hit a parked vehicle.
The TVI did not disable Ray's vehicle, according to the police report, and he drove off through the front yards of four homes along Northeast 23rd Street, then onto the sidewalk, turning onto Fairmont.
As the chase reached the area of Northeast 23rd and E Madison, officials performed another TVI. Ray's vehicle eventually hit a white plastic fence on the back side of Tinker Federal Credit Union.
Police took Ray into custody and noticed a passenger lying with the seat all the way back. The police report notes that the passenger was cooperative and was not a willing participant in the pursuit.
She told officers that Ray had thrown a gun out of the vehicle during the chase. Police searched the area but were not able to locate the firearm.
Police did, however, find a plastic bag containing meth in Ray's pockets. He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail for:
* Endangering Others While Eluding Police Officer
* Speeding
* Leaving Scene of an Accident Involving Damage
* Driving with License Canceled, Suspended or Revoked
* Possession of Controlled Substance
* Failure to Signal on Turning
* Failure to Stop at Stop Sign
The police report also notes that Ray was convicted of two counts of bringing contraband into a jail in 2016.
