Book Launch: "Merkel's Work – Our Downfall" by Gerald Grosz | 10 Years of "We Can Do It" – The Bitter Conclusion
Exactly 10 years ago, on August 31, 2015, Angela Merkel opened the gates to a massive wave of immigration with her famous "We Can Do It" slogan – and thereby triggered a catastrophe for Germany and Austria. In his new book, "Merkel's Work – Our Downfall," Gerald Grosz takes a ruthless look at the situation: He uncovers the devastating consequences, from social tensions and economic strains to cultural changes. Grosz calls it the "greatest sin of the Second Republic" and shows how politicians like Merkel and her "cheerleaders" (e.g., Markus Söder) are now turning everything around, while the FPÖ and AfD were the only ones to consistently oppose it.
In the presentation (live from 2025), Grosz shares hard facts and anecdotes: He recalls the opportunists and hypocrites who celebrated the "welcoming culture" and now want to know nothing more. A highlight: Grosz quotes Sebastian Kurz (then Foreign Minister) from 2015 with "Every average immigrant is more intelligent than an Austrian" – and criticizes how Kurz dismissed protests as "hate and incitement." (Quick fact check: Kurz's original quote was actually "The average immigrant today is more educated than the average Austrian" – from a debate in April 2015. Grosz likely worded it more sharply to make his point. Sources: Austrian Parliament and media reports from the time.)
As the only book in the German-speaking world marking the anniversary, it critically examines the topic – not a one-size-fits-all approach, but a genuine debate! With guests like Udo Landbauer (FPÖ) and Dominik Nep (Vienna FPÖ leader), things will get politically explosive.
Watch the full presentation and read the book – it's worth it to see the truth behind politics!

"10 years of "We can do it" – are we abolishing ourselves? It was on August 31, 2015, when Germany's former Chancellor Angela Merkel, with this phrase at a federal press conference, launched the "welcoming culture" policy, which was devastating for Europe, but especially for Germany and Austria. What followed was an unprecedented migration movement of hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa, who stormed the borders unchecked, unregistered, and unchecked, crying "asylum!" Gerald Grosz relentlessly exposes the catastrophic consequences for Germany and Austria, allowing many well-known and involved personalities, such as Václav Klaus, Hans-Georg Maaßen, Herbert Kickl, Harald Vilimsky, and Tino Chrupalla, to assess the development of the refugee crisis from their perspectives. The disastrous effects on society, the economy, education, security, and the social systems of Europe are now clearly felt. Violence in schools, the formation of parallel societies, terrorist attacks, and the "isolated incident" are now a sad daily occurrence. Viennese school principal Christian Klar paints a grim picture of everyday school life today. And Ann-Marie's parents and Leonie's mother describe the suffering the brutal murder of their children has brought upon their families and friends. Including the most poignant texts from 2017 to 2025 on the subject: Gerald Grosz puts his finger on the sore spot and clarifies what must finally be said.
