As Israel intensifies its assault on Gaza City, entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble and thousands of Palestinians displaced.
Israeli bombardments have left almost no building standing in the once bustling Tuffah neighborhood.

Al Jazeera's Ibrahim Al-Khalili went to the area to survey the damage.

The devastating impact of Israel's war on Gaza is starkly evident in the rising number of child amputees. The United Nations reports that Gaza now has more child amputees than anywhere else in the world, with local health data indicating nearly 5,000 people have lost limbs since the conflict began almost two years ago. Children like Mohammad Hassan and Maryam Abu Alba recount harrowing experiences of losing limbs to air strikes and bombings, struggling with both physical pain and emotional trauma. Israel's blockade and systematic assault on Gaza's healthcare system have left hospitals overwhelmed and critically short of supplies, forcing doctors to perform amputations often without anesthetics. Families are desperately appealing for their children to be moved abroad for treatment and rehabilitation, while the blockade continues to impede the entry of life-saving medical supplies, including prosthetic limbs.

Al Jazeera's Um-e-Kulsoom Shariff reports.

A record 383 aid workers were killed last year, with hundreds more wounded, kidnapped and detained - that's according to the UN.
And for the second year in a row, Gaza was the deadliest place to do humanitarian work.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from the United Nations in New York.
