I already have a camera which uses the Wansview app, and it has always worked perfectly. So I was very pleased to test this smaller, neater and at just £26.99, cheaper successor. I was rather impressed with the results from a camera so small in size and price.

Why do I like it so much?
Battery Life – the built in solar powered battery has never dropped to less than 90% even after extended use.
The app allows full control of the camera and can download recordings from the camera to the phone.
No limitations on recording or excessive attempts to sell the Cloud storage option.
Reliable. I installed this camera some time ago and have not yet needed to attend to it.
External charging port – it can be topped up by an external USB power source as well as the supplied solar panel
Decent quality 2304x1296, 15.1027 FPS video with audio
Two way audio
Colour Night Vision with spotlight
Human detection and discrimination
Optional Siren

In the mid market product box, I received the camera, Solar Panel, charging cable, Wall mount with fitting kit, and a well written and easy to follow user guide. Build quality is lightweight but decent quality, with nothing looking likely to fail or fall off any time soon.

The IP65 waterproof camera is 8.3 x 5 x 5.8 cm but is heavier than I expected for the small size. On the front are the lens, microphone, infrared LEDs, status LED, and power LED. On the underside is the grommet protected bay housing the On/Off switch, reset switch, USB-C power in port and TF card slot. On the rear is the speaker grill and the metal mounting screw hole for the supplied wall mount or any standard tripod mount.

The camera has a built in 5000mAhrechargeable battery charged by the solar panel but the USB-C charging port can be used for a manual top up from any USB outlet. but I have to say I have never needed to use it.

The camera uses the excellent Wansview Cloud app and with it you can configure the camera, monitor and record live video with audio, and download recordings to your phone. The camera has motion detection to initiate recordings, and this can be set to a schedule or 24/7 operation with infrared night vision or colour night vision with an optional siren. Personally, I prefer the standard black and white night vision. There is an image zone mode, so motion detection can be active in select areas only as well as the reverse of this, a privacy mode to prevent triggering from specified areas. The camera can record video and audio and there is a two-way talkback option. The app can be linked to Alexa or Google voice control and fully integrated into your home network. One nice feature is that the camera can be set to react only to human figures in the motion detection zone, ignoring other triggering sources.

Video quality is good, albeit with some stuttering, but is better on brighter days or when using night vision or the spotlight – at 2304×1296@15fps.

If you need a reliable fire and forget video camera for outdoor use, for the low price, this has to be a good buy.
