If you were in business, you either understand that SOP's equal leverage to re-create things reliably, or if you don't, then you pay the price of not knowing. However, SOP's have been written down in books and sat on shelves for years with very little fanfare. With AI, you can now take SOP's to a completely new level. While there are platforms that will do screen recordings, I encourage you to take it much further. As a business strategist and now AI strategist, there is a huge opportunity to make SOP's engaging and also enhance the learning component. A video SOP creates a video for those who learn by seeing, it creates an audio for those who learned by listening, and you can use AI to capture the transcription so that people can learn by reading and/or follow along with the video and or/audio. This covers creating materials for multiple different learning styles. In addition, you can also leverage AI to analyze your SOP to ensure that it includes all the steps, to enhance your SOP if it is missing steps or could benefit from optimization, you can also use it to create a summary, and a checklist. All of these materials make it easy for folks to refer back to an empower folks that might be nervous about asking a question when it comes to how to do something. You have now replicated yourself as a leader or business owner in a very impactful way that will allow you to do other things, and people will learn better through this method than you teaching them once or twice, and then leaving them to their own devices to try to figure out what you taught them. For this process, I used Fireflies AI along with a phone camera and I used a generative AI platform to analyze the SOP for optimization, I also used that platform to create a checklist, and also a summary of the transcript from fireflies. All of the video editing was done in iMovie.

One important thing to note is that creating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was very intentional. This is a leadership exercise that demonstrates how hard it is to accurately convey something that is seemingly supposed to be very simple. I followed the directions to the letter on purpose so you could see that it can easily be misunderstood. There are some interesting takeaways here:
1. No SOP is as simple as you. The leader thinks it is.
2. Using AI to help you identify and simplify steps while also optimizing the process is a critical consideration and now an indispensable help mate.
3. Laughter is the height of listening and listening is the opportunity for learning. It is critical to inject fun and creativity into processes. We are no longer useful as knowledge centers. AI has on average 25,000 times as much knowledge as the person who has 30 years of career experience. Our creativity and originality are the strengths of the modern age and those must be paired with a healthy understanding of how to leverage AI alongside of an always improving focus on leadership development.
4. When it comes to SOP's, anything that has three or more steps and has been done at least three times is an SOP. If you don't take this seriously, your business is suffering accordingly.
5. When it comes to using platforms that allow you to do screen captures, and then provide you with a breakdown of steps, that is a great middle of the road solution. You can certainly use those for some of your SOP's. However, something so important as an SOP should warrant additional consideration for the purposes of how to make them more impactful so that they enhance learning and ultimately delivery as a result.
