The Dead Names: Courtney "Charlie" Millers

A 17 year old girl strangles herself to death on a locked psych ward, while under some form of gender-affirming care from the Tavistock center. She was allegedly denied testosterone due to her severe mental illness/psychosis. Transphobia/lack of access to care is blamed anyway, even though her self-harming appears to have been sexually motivated and not a genuine attempt to self-injure or die. Mom cannot make up her mind about when the mental illness began because it makes her look bad since they seem to have started following AD/HD pharmacotherapy with adderall. Mom tells one story under oath and another to Tiktok Fam.

A 17 year old girl self-harms to death on a locked psych ward, allegedly while not even trying to die, while receiving care from the Tavistock Center through a clinic in Leeds, according to news outlets and her mother, Samantha Millers.

Tavistock was providing gender-affirming care of some sort, but had reportedly refused to give her puberty blockers because they could see she was in acute psychosis and non-communicative. The media tried to blame a transphobic society, but mom's Tiktok tells a different story of a child who deteriorated due to the noxious influence of a series of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder medications. Mom and media are very cagey about the fact that Charlie's mental illness and trans identity both onset after AD/HD medication, which was being given to address unspecified behavioral concerns. Mom appears to have perjured herself in front of some sort of UK court inquest into her daughter’s death. I also did not learn that Charlie’s name had originally been Courtney until after I had begun uploading this content.

This story is kind of all over the place. That is a result of the deliberate muddying of the waters engaged in by Courtney’s mother as well as a movement that has a vested interest in pinning her death on bullies or a lack of access to gender-affirming care. Erin Reed alleged here that there was no consideration whether barriers to access to care might have contributed to Charlie’s choice to self-harm half a dozen times a day by strangling herself for her own mysterious (autoerotic?) reasons (no). Erin in fact could have discerned, as I did, that the biggest barrier to care was put in place by goddamn Tavistock itself, because either they could see this kid was being manipulated into identifying as trans, or she was looney tunes psychotic from the ADHD drugs prescribed to suppress her preteen naughtiness. Seems like the naughtiness persisted, given that she was “ligaturing” for shits and giggles 3-7 times a day, and more in hospital than at home according to one source. Sounds a bit like she was enjoying it.

Ms Millers said he was "an amazing human" who was a talented Morris dancer and footballer and said he began to struggle with his mental health when he was just five years old.

He began to say he was a boy and was "really confused" which impacted his behaviour,* the inquest heard.

His mother said he was "quite naughty and attention seeking" and found it difficult to sleep.

She told the court about her son's behavioural issues at school and said he struggled with relationships when he began to identify publicly as a male when he was 12 years old and was severely bullied by one particular pupil."

Given what her mom says on Tiktok, I suspect this narrative about how it started when he was 5, for the inquest, was to cover up her own guilt that she has. His behavior annoyed her, but he was otherwise happy, until they started medicating his attention. When she was narrating it for the internet, she told the truth, but when she was characterizing her daughter as a lifelong nutter butter to the Inquest, she had to edit reality to cover up her guilt over the fact that she has ownership in this outcome. Even Tavistock could see that. How naughty could he have possibly been?

For these reasons, I don’t buy Mom’s story that her trans identification began at age 5, and I resent the gaslighting that they put a child hearing voices and self-harming on stimulants for “ADHD.” She supposedly couldn’t even tell Tavistock that she wanted her puberty suppressed. Even Tavistock wouldn’t touch this case. No, I think the mom’s Tiktok confession was the truth: Mom didn’t like her behavior, so she put her on drugs, and the drugs caused a massive personality change and the emergence of behaviors that were even worse, leading to a suicide attempt, hospitalization, and eventual death. All because taking her off the ADHD medication, or even lowering it, was never an option.

My conclusion is that the mother resented her “attention-seeking,” “naughty” child, sought a label, a professional put on ADHD medications, and when she had a horrible reaction and began engaging in compulsive public sexual behavior (I cannot think what else non-suicidal “ligaturing” 3-7 times a day every day would be motivated by - autoerotic asphyxiation) as well as claiming to be trans, mom started pretending to authority figures that all these symptoms had always been present.

The alternative would mean admitting that the drugs made her kid worse. It might have meant being taken off the drugs. But, she admitted to Tiktok that behavior>drugs>mental illness is how it actually happened. Hard to conclude anything besides Munchausen’s By Proxy, given what she told to the Inquest. Tavistock should have recognized that.
