Maumee, OH - A man is behind bars after a multi-county police chase that ended with a chaotic scene in uptown Maumee and a vehicle on fire.

Law enforcement chased 24-year-old Jeffrey Hunt II from Bowling Green to uptown Maumee, where he eventually crashed into a police vehicle.

The Bowling Green Police Department says it all started near Bowling Green State University, where Hunt stole earbuds from landscapers in the area. Police say Hunt fled once police tried to stop him.

Hunt led police to Lake Erie Electric, located on state Route 582.

"It was wild," Aaron Graven, a virtual construction engineer for the company, said. "We were all sitting here in the office, and we started hearing a bunch of sirens. Just from there it got even more interesting."

Workers said they did not see Hunt drive onto the property, but did see multiple police vehicles.

"I thought, 'are they chasing somebody?'" said Matthew Fields, another virtual construction engineer.

Workers said Hunt pulled out of police's view, and once the cops left, they saw Hunt leave.

"I partially thought about going up and asking what's going on, and I'm glad I didn't, 'cause it looks like he obviously didn't care about anybody or anybody's life," Graven said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said officers then found Hunt again, which started a chase to Maumee.

Hunt's car crashed into another at the intersection of Conant Street and Dudley Street, and his car then caught on fire.

"I thought it was just a normal crash, but then I saw at least three police cars," said Kane Anderson, the owner of Dale's Bar & Grill, said.

OSHP said officers ordered Hunt out of the vehicle. Video shows Hunt crawling away from the car and being arrested after a struggle with officers.

"The police apprehended him pretty quick," Anderson said. "He seemed like he got down and at least immediately kind of gave up."

OSHP said Hunt was taken to the hospital to check for injuries and has been booked at Wood County Jail.

Hunt is charged with failing to comply with a police officer, aggravated vehicular assault and theft. His bond has been set at $10,000.
