Oppenheimer is a 2023 biographical thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan that chronicles the life of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, his pivotal role in developing the first nuclear weapons during World War II via the Manhattan Project, and his subsequent security hearing. Starring Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, the critically acclaimed film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin. The movie follows Oppenheimer's journey from his university studies to directing the Los Alamos Laboratory, grappling with the moral and political consequences of his work.
