Bill Gates modified mosquitoes

Bill Gates-backed scientists in Africa have engineered genetically modified mosquitoes that, according to Gates, can no longer transmit malaria to humans.

He says this breakthrough could save hundreds of thousands of lives each year, with no need for pills, vaccines, or changes in behavior.

Once released, these mosquitoes would quietly carry and spread protection on their own.
The scientists made a small, targeted change to the mosquito's DNA.
