Our Lady of Hope (Pontmain) 1871

In 1871, During the Franco-Prussian war the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to several children in Pontmain, France. She instructed the children to pray, while the Prussian army was advancing across France. Mary appeared to a Prussian Commander who saw her in the sky. Soon after France and Prussia signed a peace treaty and the war was ended.

Mary's apparition in the sky on Jan 17th 1871 reminds us of the necessity of prayer and of the need to have hope, even in times of war. God is moved by love and when we pray we should have the hope and expectation that our loving Creator will bring a good outcome.
