2025-08-23 WebGL Feedback Test 3

This is test number 3 of my WebGL feedback system. I've improved the rendering to achieve the picture-in-picture effect seen in video feedback, while being able to mix in the feedback signal to varying degrees.

Within the feedback loop, I am now also converting to grey scale and segmenting the grey values into 3 bands to which I can assign different hues. This provides control over the colour, which otherwise invariably disperses into the rainbow spectrum.

Since the last time I have also added smoothing to the MIDI CC inputs. Averaging over about 5 values works well enough. The controls now feel like they have some weight, but without being too sluggish.

Although I have finally been able to get an audio signal into Brave for analyzing, since I'm already using MIDI CC data to control different parameters, it's much easier do this in Bitwig, and send the control data from there. In fact, I not only used the bass parts to affect the global hue, this time, I also recorded a performance of the other parameters as automation into Bitwig, and then sent that to Brave while recording the video!

Still lots of work to be done. The system as it stands is still quite unstable, there are rendering issues I have yet to work out, and I still have a mile long list of features I want to implement. But things are progressing. Feedback & questions are always welcome 🙂
