Yahweh is our Shepherd, protector, and best friend

By Him our needs are met, we are nourished, and we have peace. We find peace of mind and rest of heart when our focus is on the great Shepherd. Yahweh Adonai is our best friend who leads us to Teshuvah.

The word teshuvah means to repent and return. When we sin, we are literally losing our way. When that happens, our great Shepherd will leave the 99 to come get us for forgetting who and whose we really are.

Hence, Psalm 23:1-3 portrays Yahweh as the great Shepherd who provides for His peoples’ needs and protects them from danger. David declares that Yahweh is my shepherd, saying that Yahweh leads His people.

Psalm 23:4-6 describes Yahweh as our protector who is hosting a royal banquet for us in full view of our enemies. King David declares that those attending will enjoy unlimited access and favor of the Shepherd.
