Jews & Slavery in the Americas

Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492 & Portugal in 1497. Many then emigrated to Holland where they setup the Dutch West India Co. to exploit the new world.

In 1654, Jacob Barsimson emigrated from Holland to New Amsterdam (New York).
