A BMW—not a Toyota—was rented in my name? But where did they get the car?

I had a recent experience with totally incompetent Avis customer service reps based in India, even though I was visiting Washington state at the time. While Avis has a legitimate call center in that country, it is interesting that an Indian scammer call center—probably in a nearby office-- was equally annoying and incompetent. It appears that the social security scammers were trying hard to convince me that a car was rented in my name, but what happened when I asked them where the car was rented?
