Breaking News: California's One-Gun-a-Month law just hit the mat—and lost!

California’s law had been in place since 1999 (initially for handguns and expanded to all firearms by 2024) as a measure to curb straw purchases and stockpiling. But the court argued that constitutional rights can’t be rationed—you wouldn’t limit free speech to one protest per month, right?

California has a 90-day window to petition the full Ninth Circuit or Supreme Court. If it doesn’t succeed, multiple firearm purchases within 30 days become legal—though other rules like background checks still apply.
