The New Testament is the second major part of the Christian Bible, following the Old Testament, and it contains the foundational writings of the Christian faith. Composed in the first century AD, it consists of 27 books, written in Greek by various authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The New Testament reveals the fulfillment of the promises made in the Old Testament through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and it outlines the birth, growth, and teachings of the early Church.

It begins with the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—which present four complementary accounts of the life and ministry of Jesus. These books tell of His birth, teachings, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection, revealing Him as the Messiah, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world. Each Gospel highlights different aspects of Jesus’ identity and mission, inviting readers to believe in Him and receive eternal life.

Following the Gospels is the Book of Acts, a historical account of the early Church, written by Luke. It traces the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to Rome, focusing on key figures like Peter and Paul. Acts highlights the work of the Holy Spirit, the boldness of the apostles, and the challenges and growth of the Christian community in the face of persecution.

Next come the Epistles, or letters, written by apostles such as Paul, Peter, James, John, and Jude. These letters were addressed to individuals, churches, or groups of believers, offering theological teaching, ethical guidance, encouragement, and correction. Paul’s letters—like Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and others—are especially rich in doctrine, emphasizing themes such as grace, faith, justification, and the body of Christ. The General Epistles—Hebrews, James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2, and 3 John, and Jude—reinforce calls to faithful living, love, perseverance, and spiritual discernment.

The New Testament ends with the Book of Revelation, a prophetic and apocalyptic vision given to the Apostle John. It reveals God’s final victory over evil, the return of Jesus Christ, the final judgment, and the creation of a new heaven and new earth. It is both a warning and a promise, offering hope to those who endure in faith and remain loyal to Christ.

The New Testament reveals the heart of the Christian message: that through Jesus Christ, God has provided salvation to all who believe. It calls people to repentance, faith, and discipleship, and it continues to inspire, guide, and challenge Christians around the world to live in the light of God’s truth and grace.
