- On August 18, 2025, Jeremy David McDonald, a 44-year-old resident of Lindsay, Ontario, faced a terrifying situation when Michael Kyle Breen, a 41-year-old serial criminal already wanted by police and on probation, broke into his apartment at 3:20 a.m. Breen, armed and with a history of violent offenses, attacked McDonald, prompting the homeowner to defend himself with a knife.

- The confrontation left the criminal Breen with life-threatening injuries, requiring hospitalization.

- McDonald, acting to protect himself and his family, was shockingly charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon
