Trump Says His Constitutional Right to Appoint Judges Being Denied

Donald Trump attacked the Senate’s “blue slip” tradition on Sunday, claiming it blocks him from exercising his constitutional right to appoint judges.

The practice lets home-state senators approve or oppose judicial nominees, often stalling confirmations.

While Trump appointed 234 judges in his first term, only five have been confirmed in his second, a slowdown he blames on partisan obstruction, Newsweek has reported.

He urged Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley to scrap the system, calling it outdated and unfair, while critics argue it preserves local input and balance in federal appointments.
