✨ In this prophetic blues celebration, we step into the story of the widow of Zarephath—one of the most powerful pictures of faith and provision in all of Scripture. When famine struck and the brook ran dry, God sent Elijah not to a wealthy house but to a widow on the verge of death. She had only a handful of flour and a little oil, preparing her last meal before she and her son died. Yet the Word of the Lord spoken through Elijah declared: “The jar of flour shall not waste away, and the jug of oil shall not run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.”

This miracle is more than a provision story—it’s a prophetic picture of trust in God’s Word above all circumstances. Jesus echoed this truth when He said: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). And He promised in Matthew 6:33 that when we “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be added unto you.”

The widow’s obedience opened the door to supernatural provision. She gave out of her lack and discovered the endless supply of heaven. Her jar did not run dry because God is faithful, even in famine, even in drought, even in impossible odds. This song celebrates that truth: the Lord’s promises never fail, and His Word sustains us through every trial.

📖 Original Scripture (WEB) – 1 Kings 17:7–16

“After a while, the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land. Yahweh’s word came to him, saying, ‘Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.’ So he arose and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her, and said, ‘Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.’

As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, ‘Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.’ She said, ‘As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.’

Elijah said to her, ‘Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me a little cake from it first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son. For Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “The jar of meal will not run out, and the jar of oil will not fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.”’ She went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she, and he, and her house, ate many days. The jar of meal didn’t run out, and the jar of oil didn’t fail, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Elijah.”

🎶 Song Lyrics – The Jar Will Never Run Dry

Verse 1
When the brook of Cherith ran dry,
The Lord spoke to Elijah, “Arise, go at once,
To Zarephath in Sidon’s land—
For there I’ve commanded a widow to provide.”

He came to the gate, saw her gathering sticks,
Said, “Bring me a little water in a jar,
And bake me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
But she cried, “I have only a handful of flour and a little oil in a jug—
I’m preparing our last meal before we die.”

Chorus
🔥 But the Word of the Lord will not fail,
The jar of flour shall not waste away,
The jug of oil shall never run dry,
Until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.
🎶 Built on faith, not on sight—
The promise of God will hold through the night!

Verse 2
Elijah said, “Fear not, woman,
Make me a little cake first in the fire,
For the Lord of Israel has spoken—
His Word is life, His Word will not expire.”

And day by day she reached into the jar,
The flour remained, the oil kept flowing,
A miracle written in her humble house,
Provision unending, His glory showing.

Bridge
Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by every Word that proceeds from the throne.
Seek first His Kingdom, and all will be supplied,
The righteous will never be cast aside!

Final Chorus
🔥 The Word of the Lord will not fail,
The jar of flour shall not waste away,
The jug of oil shall never run dry,
Until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.
🎶 Built on faith, not on sight—
The promise of God will hold through the night!
