Dems Eye Taking Key Georgia Republican Senate Seat on Election Day!
Explore the latest twists in Georgia politics as wealthy businessman Clark Dean eyes the 2026 governor's race, potentially sidelining Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger amid ongoing tensions from the 2020 election fallout. On August 26, 2025, voters will decide a high-stakes special election for State Senate District 21, where a single Democrat faces six Republicans in a runoff-bound race that could flip GOP control and threaten the party's slim majority. With over $1 million spent on this $18K/year seat, fears mount that low turnout could hand Democrats a win in this red district, highlighting Georgia's unresolved issues like jungle primaries and open voting systems. Meanwhile, Republican Brian Montgomery joins a crowded field in the 1st Congressional District to replace retiring Rep. Buddy Carter, battling establishment favorite Jim Kingston (son of a former rep, but not from the district) and others like Kandiss Taylor amid Savannah's 1,000 paper plant layoffs. Don't miss the critical November 2025 Public Service Commission races—Democrats outperformed Republicans in primaries, and a single win could flood the state with cash for 2026. Fulton County commissioners face contempt charges tomorrow for defying a judge's order to seat Republicans Jason Frazier and Julie Adams on the election board, following a ruling favoring the GOP and RNC. Kemp-endorsed Derek Dooley launches his Senate bid with an AJC interview dodging abortion questions, backed by the governor's machine to counter Mike Collins, while promising pro-life pivots. In the 2nd District, Sanford Bishop faces renewed challenges from Chuck Hand (after 2024 runoff loss to Wayne Johnson) and potentially Johnson again. Georgia's 9th and 14th Districts see multiple challengers to incumbents Andrew Clyde and Marjorie Taylor Greene, while Barry Loudermilk in the 11th battles his primary opponent.
Several weeks ago we talked about Clark Dean putting his name in for governor, he has enough money to self-fund. Is he getting in the race to shut out Brad Raffensperger.
It is election day in Georgia for the special state Senate election district 21. The fear is that a democrat will take the seat. In Georgia we don’t fix things. For years we have been trying to fix jungle primaries. And we want to close our primaries. Voters are to decide between 7 candidates in a special state Senate election, 6 republicans and 1 democrat. In Georgia you have to get 50% plus 1, we know that there will be a run off. This seat is valued at $18K a year, over a million dollars has been spent on this race. There are strong odds that there could be a run off between a democrat and a republican. If a democrat is in a run off and the republicans don’t get their voters out in 30 days a democrat could pull this district off. We have had several years to end jungle primaries.
Brian Montogomery is running for Georgia 1st congressional district as a republican. He is at least the ninth candidate in the race to replace US Buddy Carter. Other candidates are Jim Kingston who has the machine and donor base behind him, Krista Penn, Kandiss Taylor and Pat Farrell along with the democrats in the race. Jim Kingston is not from the district and is not entitled to the seat to follow his dad who previously held the seat. In the first district 1000 people were laid off at a paper plant in Savannah.
Don’t forget November we have two Public Service Commissioner races. If we have a democrat take one or two of the seats, they will treat this win as if the democrats have won the Super Bowl. They are watching VA and GA in November. If republicans look at the numbers in the primary, democrats outpaced the republicans by large margins in both of these races. The Public Service Commissioner sets your rates on your utilities. These races as boring as they may sound to you, these races will set the tone for the senate race, it will set the tone for the constitutional offices. If just one democrat wins, money will pour into this state for 2026.
Will Fulton County democrat commissioners get arrested tomorrow for contempt of court orders. The commissioners have not put Jason Frazier and Julie Adams on the board, the judge ruled in favor of the republican party and the RNC.
Derek Dooley is Kemp endorsed. Derek Dooley did an interview with the AJC, BKP highlighted Derek Dooley coming into the race and the groundwork that they are laying out. How it was all controlled and managed by the Kemp machine with Cody Hall. How we are watching a cooling of Mike Collins and they are pulling Derek up to level him out with Collins. In the interview he skirted the question about abortion saying he needs to stay out of it. They will find a way to get Derek Dooley interview with a pro-life advocate and allow him to say how excited he was in the heartbeat bill.
The second district of Georgia, Sanford Bishop. Chuck Hand and Wayne Johnson got in a runoff in 2024. Wayne Johnson won the run off. Chuck hand has once again signed the paperwork to run again. WE are hearing that Wayne Johnson will run again.
The ninth district has a couple of challengers and the same with the fourteenth. Barry Loudermilk, 11th district, has an opponent, his very first vote as a newly elected representative stabbed his constituents in the back.
