Kids Turn Garment Factory Into A Dance Floor.

Beyond Clothing Nigeria

Last year, I had the privilege of welcoming the young pupils of Academic Planet School, Aba into our factory. My vision was simple: to give them a rare opportunity to see how garments are truly made inside a professional garment factory.

They were introduced to CAD computer pattern drafting, learned the basics of cutting and assembling garments, and I personally walked them through the different machines and their functions. Some even got the chance to sew, picking up simple techniques and proudly creating their own clothes.

To make it even more exciting, we rewarded the best three participants with prizes of ₦100k, ₦50k, and ₦20k. But beyond the prizes, what moved me most was watching the parents encourage their children to take the program seriously—it showed me that this experience mattered to families as much as it did to the kids.

My greatest hope is that someday, some of these children will grow to build their own fashion brands or even establish factories bigger and better than ours.

The program was first offered to Academic Planet School, and they embraced it wholeheartedly. Since then, other schools have reached out, eager for us to replicate the experience—some even offering to sponsor it. I haven’t yet found the right time and space to make it happen again, but it’s something I truly want to repeat in the near future.

As I share this throwback video today, I celebrate the children who made my 2024 truly unforgettable. Their joy, their dance, and their energy still warm my heart. Investing in our young ones is one of the most rewarding seeds we can plant for the future.

Here’s to doing it again—with another school, and another set of bright, eager minds.
