French firefighting helicopter crashes into pond

A helicopter lost control and crashed into a pond in Rosporden, France, as it tried to scoop water to battle a fire on August 24.

The pilot, an officer aboard the helicopter, and a witness were taken to a local hospital, with no fatalities reported, according to a statement by the local municipality.

Authorities took measures to contain risk of pollution, Mayor Michel Loussouarn said in a statement on social media.
