Welcome.

Wow. Fall is here early. The electric universe has thrown our Sun into it’s Maunder Minimum, adding to the planet’s ever decreasing overall temperature since the spike in the 1930’s. Add the La Niña pushing the jet stream north, sending colder Artic air over Southern Ontario, and you get an early Fall. Today’s high of 19C with the lowest on Friday to be 10 C with a high next Tuesday of 24. That’s a week of very little precipitation and a shrinking, yet warm enough growing period, as the Sun also reduces exposure.

Some of the Squash vines are giving up the ghost, and the temperature drop is just aggravating the leaf mildew to the point where they’d require the turmeric spray every day, which is too much for the plant. I think I may be counting squashes before the end of August. Never done that before. I’ve had squash grow into the 3rd week of September.

The onions are loving it though, and so is the Kale. And the potato tops have perked up! And the bush beans are just keeping up enough for daily meals, made my favourite way, fried in garlic & olive oil for 4 minutes at med heat, toss midway and season with salt, then add a little soya sauce and simmer for 4 minutes, then let rest for 4 minutes and/or keep the lid on the pan until you’re ready to serve the side.

We’re still hopin’ for a second pumpkin in the front, which will be a small one by the time the growth comes to an end with this mini-ice age. The front gets the Sun until 4 PM, so it does well with the refracted heat from the side of the house and the windows, but not if its only the low 20’s with a cool breeze.

The second flower has opened in the front keeping the pollinators busy, including Butch, which has more flowers than all the others per stalk, including morning glories who only bless us with their delicate existence for a short while.
