ROX• TV | UPDATE: Typhoon Kajiki continues to batter Vietnam
The Ministry of National Defense has ordered the Air Force to prepare five aircraft, along with 13 tons of compressed rations and 2 tons of canned meat, to support Military Region 4 in providing emergency relief to Central Vietnam as Typhoon Kajiki (Storm No. 5) continues to batter the region.
On the evening of August 25, the Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee reported that the Ministry of National Defense had mobilized more than 346,000 troops and militia, along with 8,200 vehicles of all kinds, including 5,061 trucks, over 2,500 boats and canoes, 623 specialized vehicles, and five aircraft. In Military Region 4 alone, nearly 117,000 soldiers and militia, together with 1,213 vehicles, have been deployed.

The Ministry also instructed Military Region 4 to deploy nearly 7,100 troops and militia to work with local authorities in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue, following the “four on the spot” principle (manpower, supplies, command, and logistics available locally).
Military forces have already evacuated 14,704 households - representing 43,861 people - from danger zones in Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri. They also helped secure 23,275 boats carrying 76,884 workers in safe harbors.
On August 25, the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army issued urgent orders to Military Regions 3 and 4, demanding close coordination with provincial authorities to implement strong measures to prevent landslides, flash floods, inundation, and to minimize casualties and property damage. Safety of personnel during missions was emphasized as the top priority.
The military is also tasked with ensuring rapid recovery efforts so that daily life, the upcoming school year, and the 80th National Day celebrations (September 2) can proceed safely.

The Air Defense – Air Force Command and Corps 18 (the Helicopter Regiment) have been ordered to stand ready for search and rescue flights and relief deliveries.
The Signal Corps was instructed to maintain uninterrupted communications, especially in isolated areas cut off by flooding and storm damage. Viettel, the military-run telecom group, has also been tasked with securing communications between central authorities and affected localities.
Meanwhile, the General Departments of Logistics, Technical Services, Defense Industry, and Military Intelligence (General Department 2) have been directed to ensure the safety of depots, factories, and weapons systems, while also supplying and transporting rescue equipment and materials to support local disaster relief.
