Deuteronomy 14

In Chapter 14, the verse that tells us why God has these rules is the first one. "You are the sons of the LORD your God...". The point of these rules is loving obedience to God, being set apart from the people around them. Whether it's what they eat, how they mourn, or giving of their blessings and abundance, the point is to remember God in how they live.

Each tribe had a town where sacrifices were given, and the portion of the tithe that they could eat was like the peace offering.
