A 20-second feature film-style trailer for the 1997 Independence Day video game was placed at the beginning of the Independence Day home video release, which was the best-selling video of 1996.
This trailer was also featured on the sell-through video release of Broken Arrow and the Widescreen Series edition of Independence Day.
The game itself was released on February 28, 1997, in the United States.
