Pete Clark joined me from Yakutsk to explain one of the largest logistical efforts of the 20th century, with American pilots ferrying aircraft built in the US to Soviet pilots for delivery to the front lines.
The ALSIB was crucial for the Soviet Union's war effort against Germany, providing a faster and more direct way to deliver much-needed aircraft compared to other routes via the North Atlantic and Persian Gulf.
The ALSIB demonstrated a remarkable level of cooperation between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, who put aside their differences to achieve a common goal in the war against Nazi Germany.
