James Dobson is Dead.

His legacy leaves a lot to be desired. Grief is unexpected, and it fluctuates. Grieve how you choose - there is no judgment here.

It’s also important to remember that:
- he taught people as someone with a PhD, with educational authority
- he encouraged NO accountability for abusive parents and blurred the lines between the parents and God
- he encouraged wives to stay in abusive marriages
- he encouraged parents to rely on him and other Christian counselors for parenting advice without looking at the changing evidence of how to best help kids
- he did NOT encourage parents to treat parenting as continuing education, but instead a mandate from God Himself
- he encouraged radio programs to spread his beliefs and teachings
- he encouraged and supported and promoted Christian Nationalism
- he NEVER apologized for the harm he caused
