Port St. Lucie, FL - The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) is reminding drivers of the importance of the "move over" law after an officer was nearly hit by a speeding car.

In a recent video release from PSLPD, several officers were seen blocking the road with their marked units, equipped with emergency lights, while responding to a crash.

Despite these precautions, a speeding car nearly struck the officers.

The move over law requires drivers to either move over one lane or reduce their speed to 20 mph below the posted speed limit when approaching any stopped, disabled, or emergency vehicles, or people working along the road.

PSLPD said that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence at the time of the incident.

She was subsequently arrested and taken to St. Lucie County Jail.
