Minneapolis school attacker ‘obsessed with idea of killing children’, officials say

Investigators determined that the Minneapolis church shooter, Robin Westman, who killed two children and wounded 18 others, was “obsessed with the idea of killing children” and appeared to harbor hate towards various groups.

The 23-year-old, who previously attended the church’s school, fired dozens of shots through windows using three firearms and left a note with hateful references.

The victims, Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski, were identified by their families, who expressed profound grief and called for action to prevent such tragedies.

Westman, who died by suicide at the scene, had a history linked to the church but no known mental health issues.

Officials described the attack as domestic terrorism motivated by a hate-filled ideology, citing anti-Semitic and anti-religious statements found on weapons and notes, the BBC has reported.
