Trump executive order mandates classical architecture for federal buildings

President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring all new federal buildings, particularly in Washington, D.C., to adopt classical architecture, rejecting modernist and brutalist styles.

The order aims to make federal buildings “noble” and “admired by the public,” with the General Services Administration responsible for implementation.

The move reflects Trump’s personal taste, already evident in White House renovations, including Rose Garden changes, oversized flags, and plans for a $200 million ballroom, CNN has reported.

Supporters say classical architecture embodies American democratic values and timeless design.
