Detailed Story (Part 14)

I give some clarifications and describe the perils of not being paid as well as the enormous difference in wealth between my client and myself. I describe the nature of my work and the need to work for my client in the winter and use the summer as down time for them, if there is to be any halt to work as I can make money during the summer months with my own business. I was required to prepare the storage units for the appraiser a few weeks prior to his arrival. As far as memory serves, I was not doing much work at the storage unit during the winter and any work was probably monitoring website traffic and perhaps getting images prepared for adding to the website.

I speak about losing belongings due to homelessness and I try to make a distinction between losing trivial material possessions versus items for a rich life. I was not clear about what that meant. I have never had much money, so I was very selective about what I chose to spend my money on. So much of my collection of belonging was obtained through careful research and prudence. Nearly everything I owned had a utilitarian purpose or sentimental value. When a person can look at the items they have spent a lifetime collecting through sacrifice and hard work those objects become very special and an emotional attachment develops. This is most deeply felt with my tools. I had a very real emotional attachment with those tools as they were so much more than just objects, they represented the life that they had helped me build up to that point and the future that I would build with them.
