1. Part of not understanding need:

2. Contention in School of Prophets (NKW Store). Egos in church meetings have a devastating affect. People with agendas and strong wills, constantly hijacking classes. Sarcasm. Friend of mine dis-invited to attend an institute class because she kept trying to dominate everything.
3. Lord of Sabaoth. Hosts or Armies, first day of creation, sabbath last day.
iii. 96 Inheritances: French Farm part of lot used for temple. Bishop Whitney's calling to handle temporal affairs
IV. Point II 97 Missouri Zion inheritance
i. Truth Restored by GBH and two chapters: Kirtland and Missouri. Issue of division of saints and coordinating.
ii. Rebuke of MO saints. Part of problem, both K and Zion saints slothful
iii. PPP Pleased that there be a school in Zion. JRH 1988. Need to educate saints, associated with the temple. All the skills needed to build one, and reverential place to meet and be taught.
1. Behold, this is the tithing and the sacrifice which I, the Lord, require at their hands, that there may be a house built unto me for the salvation of Zion—
2. For a place of thanksgiving for all saints, and for a place of instruction for all those who are called to the work of the ministry in all their several callings and offices;
3. That they may be perfected in the understanding of their ministry, in theory, in principle, and in doctrine, in all things pertaining to the kingdom of God on the earth, the keys of which kingdom have been conferred upon you.
4. And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it;
5. Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God.
6. Compare that to common concerns for not going to temple:
a. I'm busy
b. Me and my wife fight (don't recall my parents doing that)
i. You're choosing to fight
ii. Conflict resolution skills
c. Falling asleep in temple
7. Two promises: Glory and Presence
iv. Observing covenants by sacrifice, and glory days of home teaching--continual prodding to get people to accept home teachers.
V. Point III What is Zion?
i. Pure in heart
1. Temple, purity, Zion, and glory
2. Leads to the presence of Son.
ii. Outside of Zion: scourge and vexing report

i. Atonement Quotient
1. Rebuke for neglecting the temple
a. Common theme, in Nauvoo with Nauvoo house and temple simultaneously
b. I grew up in the Oakland, CA stake, and I went on more camping trips than temple trips. 15 minutes away.
c. What about our temples?
i. More time on planning girls camp than temple trips?
2. Zion: I reread TRMN, and a bit take back by this. There was no entry on Zion. Could be an issue with compilers, but are we loosing something, focusing on other things, and failing to see establishing Zion as the real solution?
3. Zion cannot be established independent of Christ's atonement. Purity of heat only comes by being born again.
ii. Second Coming: Need to establish Zion for civic stability: vexing scourge. We have the peace and sanity the world craves and needs.
iii. How do temple lead us to Christ?
1. Learn full-integrated way His work rolls forth
2. :
a. "Expound" Focus on asking questions, but this word expound and expository preaching. Are we doing it? Sermons of a popular preacher: story-telling and soft and soggy saying, but blood and splinters.
b. Topics covered:
i. perfected in the understanding of their ministry
ii. theory
iii. principle
iv. doctrine
v. in all things pertaining to the kingdom of God on the earth
c. How does this approach to teaching, expounding, and focusing on theory, principle, and doctrine lead us to Christ? It's a far cry from what we do, and are we leading people away from Christ? But focusing on expounding theory, principle, and doctrine, will lead us to Christ--that's the point.
