Conduit 2 Playthrough - Part 1
[Note: This video and description were originally posted on Youtube on February 2, 2016.]
This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through Conduit 2 for the Wii. This was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U). I'm playing on guarded difficulty.
Following up on The Conduit playthrough from last year, here's Conduit 2. When High Voltage Software first announced this game, I was really excited to get another Wii Remote FPS, especially since I had so much fun online with The Conduit (for a while). However, I had no idea if this game would turn out any better than the first one, and I was skeptical about certain changes like iron sights and sprinting.
Nonetheless, like with the first game, I pre-ordered Conduit 2 to get the special edition and picked the game up on its release date. When I got home I started blasting through the single-player missions and only went online after completing a couple hours or so offline.
I instantly found that Conduit 2 had a much better design than the first game. The levels were designed better and the weapons were more varied and interesting. Grenades worked better and the AI was a little smarter. So I found myself enjoying the single player missions more than the first game. Plus I enjoyed unlocking weapons for online (through the credit system) simply by playing the game offline.
I also found that the online multiplayer was far better than the first game because of loadouts, fewer game-breaking glitches, and changes to the jumping mechanics and lock-on. Unlike the fist game, you were no longer guaranteed to win an online match simply by bunny hopping with a USP45 and relying on lock-on. Plus there was an optional hardcore mode that didn't use lock-on.
HVS also improved the controls over the first game, as far as I'm concerned. The new Motion Plus support steadied the cursor and allowed for better off-screen tracking. For some reason, HVS programmed its cursor a little too sensitive in both games, making it twitch non-stop no matter how steady your Wii Remote stayed. But somehow Motion Plus corrected this flaw and allowed the cursor to stay dead still, enabling me to do certain things like Carbonizer sniping.
Conduit 2 ended up becoming my most-played Wii game. I clocked more than 1,000 hours in the game, joined a clan (something I had never done before) and met a ton of new friends who I would not have otherwise known. For some reason, this game just clicked with me. That was nice since I started feeling out of touch with gaming in general once the Nintendo 64 era ended and everything started moving to dual analog (the bane of my existence).
While this game wasn't anywhere near as good as Perfect Dark, it had really fun online multiplayer, and to me, it sort of carried on the old school, sci-fi FPS style that I loved.
In this first part I started a new save file and completed the Trust Platform area.
Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the Wii's component cables. I'm using a Wii Remote and nunchuck with Motion Plus.
