The atlas, created 438 years ago in 1587, has recently been restored for public access. This historical map shows the world as it was four centuries ago.

Scholars have restored 60 pages of a unique atlas depicting mystical creatures, mysterious ships and giant birds.

Urbano Monte has created an extremely precise map. Considering that there were no satellites or aeroplanes back then, it is astonishing. To create such a map it was necessary to see the Earth from above.

It is a mystery, as a solid scientific basis was needed to make the map, and its creator had an idea of what our planet looks like from space orbit...
