NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams just held their first press conference since returning to Earth— and I broke down my top two takeaways on CNN.

⭐First: The astronauts just looked good. I know that might sound superficial, but it's actually kind of a big deal. Long stays in space can take a real toll on the body. But Suni Williams casually mentioned that she went out and ran three miles just two weeks after landing. That’s no small feat, and it tells us something important about crew health, recovery, and how well the systems are working.

⭐ Second: What really stood out was how Butch owned it. He didn’t deflect, didn’t sugarcoat anything. He straight-up said there were questions he should’ve asked but didn’t—and that maybe things would’ve gone differently if he had. In a field where accountability is everything—and where disasters like Challenger and Columbia are always in the background—that kind of honesty matters. A lot.
