Judging by the geolocation, the battle is unfolding in the southeastern part of the city, in the Lazurny neighborhood. This sector was previously presented by Ukrainian sources as "fully controlled." However, the fact of the clash confirms that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' control over the south and southeast of Pokrovsk has been lost or seriously limited.

For Kiev, this is effectively the first admission that Russian units are present in the urban area and are conducting active operations there.

Whether there has been a full breach of the defense is still unclear, but the fighting inside the city, judging by the reaction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has become a problem that has not been quickly resolved.
