Left-Wing Extremist: "Yes, I just have a couple of thoughts on the Minnesota shooting. First of all, 99% of the time, the perpetrators of these atrocious acts of violence are white. So let’s reflect on that for a minute.

Second, conservative, cisgender, heterosexual, homophobic, transphobic people—before saying, “oh, trans people are crazy, they’re committing all these acts of violence, they’re committing all these crimes,” understand that you also play a role in this.

If a trans person is going to commit an act of violence like this, maybe there were underlying mental health issues, and if you had allowed them to express themselves according to their identity, we might have prevented the violent act from happening in the first place."

The horror experienced on August 27 at the Church of the Annunciation in Minneapolis continues to reveal troubling details.

The attacker, identified as Robert “Robin” Westman, 23, opened fire during morning Mass, killing two children and injuring 17 others—most of them also minors—before taking his own life. A hate crime against Catholics.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on August 28 that the attack has been classified as domestic terrorism motivated by anti-Catholic ideology. Investigators found a manifesto in which Westman expressed hatred not only toward the Catholic faith, but also toward Jews and even President Donald Trump, including explicit violent phrases engraved on his firearms. According to Fox News reports, Westman fired more than 116 rounds using a semi-automatic rifle.

Prior to the attack, he uploaded his manifesto to YouTube, where he expressed deep regret over his gender transition process. “I’m tired of being trans, I wish I hadn’t been brainwashed,” he wrote, admitting he would never achieve the female body he longed for and couldn’t afford the surgeries. The FBI stated it will use all its counterterrorism tools to clarify the case and prevent future attacks driven by hate-based ideologies.

Concerns about psychiatric medications in transitions.

On the same day as the FBI’s announcement, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), declared that the government is investigating the possible role of psychiatric drugs prescribed during “gender transitions” in the wave of violence affecting the United States. In an interview with Fox & Friends, Kennedy explained that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is already conducting studies on SSRI antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and other medications commonly used among transgender youth. Many of these drugs carry “black box” warnings about risks of suicidal and homicidal ideation, especially in individuals under 24.

A troubling pattern.

The Minneapolis case recalls the March 2023 shooting at Covenant School in Nashville, also perpetrated by a person who identified as transgender. Both incidents have intensified the debate over the relationship between radical ideologies, mental health issues, psychiatric drug use, and mass violence.

As the Catholic community mourns the victims and leaders like Cardinal Raymond Burke and President Donald Trump condemn the crime, the country faces urgent questions about the root causes of these attacks and the risks associated with policies that, under the banner of “inclusion,” have allowed transition processes without sufficient medical or psychological safeguards.

What is clear is that Westman’s shooting was not a mere episode of violence, but a terrorist attack driven by anti-Catholic motivation—opening a new front in the national discussion on faith, religious freedom, gender ideology, and mental health in the United States.
