Today, to accompany and support the Global Shipwreck Flotilla in this act of international solidarity to try to stop the genocide and the plan of extermination that Israel, the terrorist state of Israel, has been carrying out for decades, with particular brutality and televised before the eyes of all humanity for the past two years.
00:21
We are here.
00:23
Supporting an effort by civil society, an effort by the people in the face of the violation of international law, of their international commitments, and therefore in the face of their complicity, because silence and inaction are also a form of complicity on the part of major European governments, the US government, and also the Spanish government.
00:44
The people boarding the dozens of boats that will sail today in the Global Summum Flotilla are doing what all the world's institutions should be doing, which is to make every effort within our reach to stop this genocide and this extermination of the Palestinian people carried out by the terrorist state of Israel.
01:01
We are also here today to demand that the Spanish government abandon its complicity in the genocide and comply with the law and international legality, implement a total arms embargo on the terrorist state of Israel, and immediately sever all diplomatic and commercial relations with the terrorist state of Israel that are currently serving to finance it.
01:23
And finally, we want to ask everyone to remain attentive, attentive, attentive to the work and this international solidarity action of the Global Summum Flotilla every day and every minute, because... 01:36
Given the complicity of the US government, the European government, and the Spanish government in the genocide, the only source of security for the people aboard these ships, loaded with humanitarian aid but also intended to break the media blackout and the political complicity of the world's main owners with the terrorist state of Israel, is for the people to be there. For millions of people around the world to say that we are with the flotilla, that we are above all with the Palestinian people, and that we want to stop this genocide and for Palestine to be free.
02:06
We are free from the river to the sea.

Ahead of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s departure from Barcelona on August 31, 2025, Irene Montero, MEP and political secretary of Podemos, denounced the Spanish government’s role, urging it to “abandon its complicity with the genocide” in Gaza and calling for all countries to sever ties with what she described as a “terrorist state”.
She emphasized that those embarking in the flotilla were doing what institutions worldwide should be doing—making every effort to halt the genocide. She called for a special Council of Ministers meeting and public support for the flotilla throughout its journey as a form of civil protection.

Speaking at the event, Montero argued that the flotilla represented the kind of institutional action that should have already been taken: “they are doing what institutions should do,” in opposing the violence and breaking the siege.
