Plank/Side Plank Knees

Plank and side planks are NOT an abdominal dominant movement. This exercise is also a time under tension type movement. An isometric contraction. So, if it doesn't feel hard at first. Give it time. I have found when I start my clients with the version done on your knees they protest a bit saying it isn't hard enough. Before the minute is over they are having trouble maintaining tightness and strength in the peripheral core or your upper back. This is your stable platform, then it's your glutes, then your central core is the linchpin to tie it altogether. Keep the hips high. The lower the hips, the more the load is shifted into shoulder. Tense up the upper back. Engage those glutes! Then those abs.
