Xi Jinping, Putin Hail "Unprecedentedly High" China-Russia Ties in Beijing | Spotlight | N18G

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Beijing on Tuesday, hailing their ties as "unprecedentedly high" ahead of China's largest-ever military parade. The meeting followed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, where both leaders criticised Western powers and pledged to deepen cooperation. Putin recalled the historic unity between the Soviet Union and China, while Xi referred to him as an "old friend." The visit is Putin’s longest abroad since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, underlining Moscow's reliance on Beijing. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has also arrived, making his first multilateral appearance in decades. All eyes now turn to Wednesday's parade.
