The Cheyenne-class is a Starfleet light cruiser from the 24th century, known for its four warp nacelles, a saucer section derived from the Galaxy-class, and use in deep space exploration. Designed as an exploratory vessel and a first-strike cruiser, it featured an advanced scientific loadout and was the first Starfleet ship to test a saucer separation system. While not a frontline combat vessel, it played a role in establishing new warp design eras and was a component of the post-Wolf 359 era, leading to later designs like the Ahwahnee and Stargazer classes.
