Following Christ is not a casual or personal practice. It is a continuous commitment and way of life that applies to all persons at all times and in all places.

There are many ways to seek perfection in our mortal lives. One way is to be witnesses of Jesus Christ. Another way is to overcome our natural self centeredness by giving service to others. In order to stand blameless before God at the last day, we must also serve Him with all our heart and mind (Doctrine and Covenants 4:2).
