Pope Leo urges global response after Sudan landslide kills over 1,000

Pope Leo called for a global response to the Sudan conflict at his weekly audience on Wednesday (September 3) as an armed group controlling western parts of the country said at least 1,000 people were killed when a landslide buried a mountain village. The pope said that he felt "closer than ever" to the people of Sudan and urged dialog to end the civil war.
